What kinds of pay is handled by the TimeIPS piecework system?
The piecework system is designed to handle any kind of pay that is not based on hours worked. This includes pay for units completed, tips, commissions and bonuses. Other special pay, such as for accident-free days or on-schedule project completion can be handled as well.

Does TimeIPS support group piecework, such as pooled tips or group performance bonuses?
Yes. TimeIPS allows group piecework where a total dollar amount is split among a group of employees. The amount is prorated to each employee based on the number of hours they worked in a range of time. The work time that counts can be restricted by job for cases where only certain types of work qualify to get a portion of the pooled tips or bonus. In addition, TimeIPS provides an option to allow benefit types to be included in the pool, for cases where employees share tips or bonuses with sick or on vacation members of their group.

Can piecework pay be calculated based on an employee's pay rate for an amount of time?
Yes. Piecework pay can be calculated as a flat amount per unit, or can be a number of hours and minutes of the employee's pay rate per unit. For special situations, such as bonuses, commissions or completion of large projects, piecework pay can be a percentage of an employee's pay rate including yearly salary.

Does piecework pay get figured into an employee's base pay as required by FLSA labor law? What if it's discretionary and I don't want it to be included in the base pay?
Yes. TimeIPS provides an option to include piecework pay in the employee's base pay rate as required by FLSA for non-exempt employees. For exempt employees, or special piecework types such as discretionary bonuses, this can be disabled.
